World is beset with so many problems. Political and geographical problems are two most important of them. Can the presence of a world government be the answer to the solution of all the ills afflicting this world?
United Nations Organization is not a world government but it has many functions that a government does. It could very well be a substitute for a world government, but it has failed in so many respects.
Given the myriad of differences amongst the countries, it is simple naive to think that we can have one world government. At best it will be prudent to strengthen the United Nations itself rather than to create any new world body.
World is too diverse for a world government. That is the ideal that any one will cherish. A world government based on the principles of freedom, democracy, non-discrimination, economic well being of all etc. can just be a dream.
There is no such thing as one world government prophecy. That may a doomsday come true. Only a prophet like a Jesus can usher in such a body.
We know how United Nations has failed in so many respects. It is merely a discussion platform. In fact even that is an achievement. Governments do have a place where they can share their views and hold discussions. Though it has not been able to eliminate war and misery, it has succeeded in so many other respects.
If at all there is any effort being made towards a world government, it should start with strengthening the United Nations. Only that has the prospects of becoming a world government, if at all possible.
We have to recognize the differences across the globe in terms of endowment of resources, cultural traits, politics, levels of development, economic systems, technological developments, skills etc. These play an important part in any world body.
Given the looming conditions of energy crisis, global warming, global trading, migration etc., it is quite essential that world societies work together. The presence of a strong global entity is necessary for taking measures towards the solution of these issues.
International countries may not support or strength a world body of their own will, but many issues that may unfold in future may force them towards increased international cooperation and a stronger body than the United nations.

13th Day Of Any Month Is A Black Friday
Today is Back Friday, the 13th of July 2007. In fact any Friday which is on 13th of any month is called the "Black Friday". It refers to a number of shocking and devastating events that took place on Friday, the 13th.
Though popularly believed to have started on Friday, Oct.13,1307 when a large number of Knights Templars were arrested and tortured into "admitting" heresy by the king of France, now any Friday falling on 13th is associated with "Black Friday". It is considered to be a day of bad luck mainly in English speaking societies around the world.
In fact, many countries have different episodes associated with Friday, the 13th. For example, in Greece, it signifies the fall of Byzantium era on Turkish victory. Number 13th is generally feared in Greece and Spain.
Any date of 13th on a Friday is supposed to be unlucky in a number of countries. People are generally afraid that something really bad will happen on this day, like an accident, a death, a natural disaster etc.
Because of the fear of "Black Friday", many people avoid doing activities like going out to work, traveling, shopping, eating out, wedding etc. As a result, it is estimated that in North Carolina, US alone, business worth $800 to $900 million is lost on any Friday, the 13th. Similar estimates can be made regarding other places.
Many events are organized on this day and people take precautions to ward off any mis happenings on this day. For example, in Port Dover, Ontario Canada, motorcycle (biker) community meet on this day and participate in music, biker, vendor etc. shows.

Can Oriental And Occidental Meet?
My best advice will be not to force it. How do I maintain relations. If I find I cannot change the nature of anyone, I leave him alone. I would prefer not to insist on maintaining relations with him.
What can one do if the other party harps on its own views and has no respect for tolerance and accommodation? It is best to leave him alone. If we still insist on continuing relations with that party, we will be harming our cause only.
Is there a meeting place between eastern and western cultures. The best thing is that if one does not like any other culture, it is alright. Let everyone follow one's own practices and believes so long as they are within the confines of that person. One should not cross the limits and invade the privacy of others.
If two cultures do not see eye to eye each other, why it should be a cause of conflict? Live and let live.
Many times, eastern and western cultures do not seem to be in harmony. It is alright. Why it should be a cause of trouble? Let people follow their own way of life.
It is hard to tackle obstinacy, lack of logic, superstition, blind beliefs, intolerance and the like. There are vast numbers of people who do not want to see reason and seem to be quite irrational. Let us not waste time in molding them as there are remote chances of their correction.
